Featuring the classic singles “Fast Car,” “Talkin’ Bout A Revolution” and “Baby Can I Hold You,” this 1988 album earned three Grammys and went on to become one of the most successful debuts of all time.

Recorded at the Powertrax Studio in Hollywood, California, the 11 tracks were recorded in eight weeks at the end of 1987. The album was praised by music critics as a return to simplicity in the purest folk tradition. It was a huge commercial success in many countries, including the UK, France and Germany, following the worldwide broadcast of the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute. It peaked at #1 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified six times platinum by the RIAA.
