Originally released on February 4, 1991, Innuendo is the band’s 14th studio album. It’s last album to be released in Freddie Mercury’s lifetime, and their most recent one to be composed of entirely new material. Stylistically, Innuendo is in some sense a return to Queen’s roots, with its harder rock sound, complex musical composition, psychedelic effects and strong vocals from Mercury (ranging three octaves). Nine months after the album’s release, Mercury died of AIDS-derived bronchopneumonia.
