In the movie, the role of Michael Jackson is played by his nephew, Jaafar Jackson (son of Jermaine). The songs are a combination of original master recordings by Michael Jackson and vocals from his nephew. While the musical performances use remastered, iconic recordings from the late pop star, Jaafar also sang live on set, leading to a blended vocal effect.
