This album established Tyner’s independence from the John Coltrane Quartet — and his strength as a jazz pianist. This one is Tyner’s seventh album, but his first under the historic Blue Note label. He is joined by tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, bassist Ron Carter and drummer Elvin Jones.
