On Hells Welles, Welles sings about the raw truth of the state of America with a twist of humor, folk, and urgency. It’s his first album singing as Jesse Welles; he previously performed as Jeh Sea Wells and fronted the bands Dead Indian, Cosmic-American and Welles. Originally released in 2024, Welles garnered attention on social media for the folk protest songs “Cancer,” “The Olympics” and “War Isn’t Murder,” a track about the Gaza war.
