Debut LP Reissue on Black Vinyl

Originally released in 1998, Something About Airplanes is the debut studio album by Death Cab For Cutie. Airplanes recorded on a reel-to-reel eight-track recorder at the band’s rented house in Bellingham. Lead singer/guitarist Ben Gibbard’s writing was primarily influenced by Idaho indie rockers Built To Spill. In an interview with Vice, he noted that Built’s 1997 opus, Perfect From Now On, was “the only thing I was listening to at that point … There’s some flagrant Built To Spill ripoffs on that record. I was really influenced by Rex and Bedhead and a lot of these slower kinds of bands.”

This black vinyl reissue is packaged with the original spot-color printed die-cut jacket design, with a new boat-and-water-ripples lyrics insert.
