Meat Puppets — Too High To Die (IEX)
An RSD Essential Release
Indie Exclusive LP on Neon JazzBerry Vinyl
The Meat Puppets — Curt Kirkwood (guitar/vocals), his brother Cris Kirkwood (bass guitar/vocals), and Derrick Bostrom (drums) — started as a punk rock band, but later established their own unique style, blending punk with country and psychedelic rock. (The band gained significant exposure when the Kirkwood brothers served as guest musicians on Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged performance in 1993.)
The classic 1994 album, Too High To Die, the band’s eighth, became their most successful release, primarily due to the success of the single, “Backwater,” which reached #2 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks and #11 on the Modern Rock Tracks charts. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA. This release has been remastered from the original ¼" production master tape.
