Petal is Grande’s eighth studio album, and serves as the follow-up to 2024’s Eternal Sunshine. Grande describes Petal as “something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.” The album serves as a writing experiment centered around breaking free from negative attachments … internal anxieties, external criticism, and things that no longer serve her. Grande has noted that the project is “a little feral,” tapping into raw, unfiltered emotions she previously felt too shy or polite to explore.

The 12-track project is executive produced and co-written by Grande alongside her longtime collaborator Ilya Salmanzadeh. Sonically, the album introduces a sophisticated landscape that blends moody pop beats, soulful melodies and modern production. The album’s lead single, “hate that i made you love me” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May 2026.
