The first Tiny Desk Concert came about in 2008 after Bob Boilen and NPR Music editor Stephen Thompson left South by Southwest frustrated because they couldn’t hear the music over the crowd noise. Thompson joked that the musician and folk singer Laura Gibson should just perform at Boilen’s desk. A month later Boilen arranged for her to do just that, making an impromptu recording and posting it online. The name is taken from Boilen’s 1970s psychedelic dance band called Tiny Desk Unit.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eTyler, The Creator’s \u003ci\u003eNPR Tiny Desk Concert\u003c\/i\u003e was performed in December 2017 as a stripped-down, intimate promotion for his critically acclaimed album \u003ci\u003eFlower Boy.\u003c\/i\u003e The short, three-song acoustic medley features live renditions of “Boredom,” “See You Again” and “Glitter.” Unlike standard daytime tapings, Tyler requested to perform at night with his own customized fuchsia, orange, and blue lighting.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eVolume 3 in a series of multi-format (vinyl, cassette, cd) bootlegs of the popular NPR Music Tiny Desk Concerts.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch6\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #00afbf;\"\u003eLimit 1 per person.
