During tour breaks between May and August 1967, The Doors spent the summer experimenting in the studio. Toying with unusual instrumentation and sonic manipulation, they created an inspired second album with songs that have all the power and energy of the first (“Love Me Two Times”), but one more subtle and intricate (“When the Music’s Over”). This 2009 12″ reissue on 180-gram HQ virgin vinyl presents the original stereo mixes, artwork and inner sleeves. The laquers were cut at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood, CA, under the direct supervision of original Doors producer/engineer Bruce Botnick and Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman.
